Little Things

There’s nothing worse than a toilet roll dispenser that’s in the wrong place. It could be:

  • too far away
  • in an awkward position
  • on the wrong side

It needs to be right if you’re going to live with it! The ideal position is on the right-hand side, slightly forward of the bowl, just above knee height.

Don’t ever put blinds or curtains over French doors—it makes it a hassle getting in or out at night.

Don’t ever install a garden with lawn right up to the fence—it’s a real pain to mow.

I really like the two-tone wood effect used on that ceiling outside.

These un-fitted kitchens (or pieces of “kitchen furniture”) by Hansen Living are really nice.

Another underground house in a completely different environment.

The stone and wood, and the way this place fits so nicely with the surrounding countryside makes it look perfect for a relaxing weekend. (via Modern Residential Design)

I really like the blend of glass, wood and stone in this modern seaside home.
